Minimizing Urban Sprawl- Preserving Pastures & Preventing Sprawl in Ward 5

Every Acre Matters in Ward 5. Our ward is defined by its natural landscapes, open spaces, and waterways — including the vital Thunderbird watershed. It’s the pastures, quiet roads, and flowing streams that give our community its character. Once these lands are lost, they’re gone forever.
We are at a crucial moment. We can choose how we grow — either spreading outward and gradually losing the land that makes Ward 5 special, or being intentional about protecting it. I will fight for safeguarding these landscapes and ensuring that Ward 5’s open spaces and waterways remain a defining part of our community. Preserving these areas means smart planning that maximizes existing infrastructure, supports our neighborhoods, and reduces pressure to convert agricultural or natural land into new subdivisions.
I will push for planning that focuses development where infrastructure already exists, advocating for:
Infill development in established neighborhoods
Reinvestment in existing communities
Protection of critical areas like the Thunderbird watershed
Land use that preserves open spaces and respects infrastructure
Every decision matters because every acre matters. Together, we can keep Ward 5’s rural landscapes and waterways intact. Join me in protecting Ward 5 and Vote Hutzel April 7th — let’s make every acre count.
